Jim Hanlon graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law and served as a law clerk to the Honorable Michael Daly Hawkins of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to joining the firm, he practiced with Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. Mr. Hanlon maintains a diverse general litigation practice in both federal and state trial courts as well as ADR programs, such as JAMS and AAA. He also has significant experience with appeals, and has argued before both the California Court of Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Mr. Hanlon maintains an active pro bono practice, including representation of an Alabama death row inmate who was successfully awarded a new trial in January 2007.
